Researchers develop stain proof fabrics PDF Print E-mail

July, 2010 – CeNTI partnership projects coming to market. A coffee, wine or oil proof fabric that will be transformed into tablecloths and napkins, a leather free of unpleasant odors and dyed with environmentally friendly substances as well as a tile that is also a light switch. These are the latest CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials and other company partners innovations being developed in Famalicão and soon available on the market.

July, 2010 - "Among the new projects of CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials is the development of a climbing jacket combining new insulation technologies and the solar cells textiles research to obtain flexible photovoltaic panels.

CeNTI innovations coming to market PDF Print E-mail

July, 2010 - A light switch embedded in a ceramic tile and stain reppellent fabrics are the main CENTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials innovations coming to market. "One of the first challenges came from the ceramics industry Dominó, that prompted about the aesthetics of switches by architects, led us to develop a tile that is a light switch," the "Sensortile" told the centre CEO, António Vieira, to Lusa.

CENTI patents PDF Print E-mail

July 2010 – Highlight news: CENTI closes the second year of activity with one patent per three researchers
"We will have a ratio of a patent per three researchers at the end of this year," told the centre CEO, employing around 30           researchers, a number,  that “will have to increase very soon”, he assured to LUSA.

Having generated a EUR 1.4 million turnover in 2009 by providing services to industry, António Vieira believes that the 2010 turnover will be increasing "at least 20 percent," enhacing that "being some developments successful much more can be expected."
