CeNTI – Who are we and what are we going to do? PDF Print E-mail

We are a private non-profit institution founded by CITEVE (Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal), University of Minho, University of Porto, University of Aveiro and CTIC (Technological Centre for the Leather Industries).

CeNTI will shortly count with around 15 researchers (at the present 11) in a full-time basis and with the support of around 40 technicians and investigators of our partners.

These teams include experts from textile, chemical, polymers, materials and electronics engineering and chemical, physics and biology sciences.

CeNTI is developing competence and acquiring technologies not available, at the moment, in Portugal and that will very useful for the technological and entrepreneurial world. The centre will support the Portuguese industry (textile, clothing and leather) in the development of new materials (smart or functional) through emerging technologies as nanotechnology, surface engineering and new fibres development technologies. On the other hand, CeNTI intends to contribute for the development of new products with novel materials incorporation. Therefore, in a short/medium term it will be acquired a last generation “Sweating” Thermal Manikin and a climatic chamber which simulates external environments.
