Project Summary:

WINNER aims to develop an innovative smart window based in the concept of luminescent solar concentrators, which could represent a powerful tool for achieving the increasing demand for zero energy buildings. The project will explore the use of innovative luminophores to produce highly transparent smart glass, that upon receiving direct sunlight downshift the solar spectrum towards the range where solar cells have an optimal response, generating electrical power and contributing to the smart climatization of the building. The project results could thus have a large impact towards meeting the international goals on sustainability and low carbon economy specifically for urban areas.
