Smart label for medicines

Smart label for medicines

DOSEA is an intelligent tag that, applied to drug packaging, allows the generation and issuing of visual warnings, alerting patients to timely medication intake. Through an App, it is possible to program the alerts and record the doses, thus guaranteeing the follow-up and greater control over the evolution of the treatment.

This technological solution is used at pharmaceutical and hospital levels, targeting private users and clinical trials. The data generated from medication adherence interconnected with other patient data, available on various platforms, such as hospitals, is another relevant aspect.

Based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, the innovation is signed by CeNTI and Portuguese companies, Neutroplast and BeyonDevices.

The innovation factor

The label is discreet and easy to integrate into different types of medication packaging, including blisters or liquid/powder bottles.

So far, no commercial solution matches all the functionalities presented by the DOSEA solution. The combination of printed and conventional electronics, the integration of a low-cost printed sensor that automatically validates the dosages ingested in each dose, and a broad adaptation to a wide range of drugs give the DOSEA solution a competitive advantage over current options on the market.

The tag incorporates improvements and innovations in terms of hardware and firmware, namely wireless communication, energy efficiency in the sensing model and the development of an intuitive mobile app. These technologies will allow the generation of pre-programmed alerts for taking the medication, recording the time of intake and comparing it with the prescription, thus verifying that the patient is following the doctor's instructions.

The parameters and the information generated can be entered and consulted, either physically in the intelligent tags or a mobile application, making the information available digitally and able to be integrated into different platforms.
