Textiles and cosmetics will take care of the skin

Products exhibit thermal comfort, antiaging and antimicrobial properties

The products, which guarantee thermal comfort, delay skin ageing and prevent or relieve bacterial infections of dermis, want to revolutionize not only the domestic industry, but also to conquer international markets. A nanotechnology-based innovation that meets the demand of textile, health and well-being sectors for solutions increasingly more sustainable, ecological and efficient.

The innovation factor

These innovative products rely on the development and usage of highly safe and sustainable  nanocapsules based on biocompatible polymers, that guarantee the complete effectiveness and stability of the active ingredients incorporated in them (phase-change materials [PCMs], a cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants, and natural essential oils). These nanocapsules are incorporated in skin care products, such as textiles and cosmetics, in order to offer thermal comfort, anti-ageing and antimicrobial properties to the user.

A number of tests, conducted during the research, have proven the effectiveness of this technology, including increased economic benefits and strong capacity of industrial production. An added-value that the consortium is now disseminating and promoting in both domestic and international markets.

The Project, designated SKHINCAPS, was developed by an European consortium led by CeNTI, which includs the Institut fuer Verbundwerkstoffe IVW (Germany), Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (Spain), o Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus VTT Oy (Finland) and the entreprises Devan- Micropolis (Portugal), Pro-Active (Belgium), Bionanoplus and Telic (Spain).
