CeNTI participates in the promotion of sustainable policies in the plastics area
Boosting the transition of the plastics sector to a circular economy is the main purpose of the Mobilising Agenda SUSTAINABLE PLASTICS. This Project, to which the Centre is associated, aims, through this change, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase resource efficiency and promote job creation.
Mobilising the private sector, national authorities, universities and citizens, the Project intends, among other strategic goals, to intensify the use of recycled and reused materials in production processes, introduce new products or services with a high degree of innovation and increase exports of goods and services with a significant contribution to European technical and technological sovereignty.
In this context, CeNTI is developing new compounds 100% free of virgin plastics of fossil origin that incorporate at least 30% organic fillers derived from corn biorefinery products and 70% recycled plastics or biodegradable polymers. These materials will be used to produce cups and/or plates by injection.
SUSTAINABLE PLASTICS is funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan within the European Union's NextGenerationEU framework.
