Fiber4Fiber: traceable and environmentally friendly cellulosic fibres
Fiber4Fiber, signed by the company Caima, CeNTI and CITEVE - Centro Tecnológico Têxtil e Vestuário, aims to develop soluble pulps from Portuguese eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), optimised for producing man-made cellulosic fibres, namely Viscose and Lyocell.
As they are potentially traceable along the value chain, these technological solutions will make it possible to distinguish of the more sustainable origin from similar ones, resulting from less responsible management.
In addition, the consortium will also assess the impact of Eucalyptus globulus soluble pulp properties on regenerated fibre production.
The differentiating Project also foresees the research of new functionalised Lyocell fibres to be marketed as value-added products in the form of textile fibres and technical yarns, promoting technological progress and national innovation.
Fiber4Fiber is co-financed by Portugal 2020 under the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Programme (COMPETE 2020) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
