HelpInTex: smart mat captivates Portuguese press attention
HelpInTex, a Project by the company António Salgado, CeNTI and CITEVE - Centro Tecnológico Têxtil e Vestuário, was featured in several Portuguese media. The innovation was news, among others, in Dinheiro Vivo, in the program "Isto faz-se por cá", by RDP Internacional, in Jornal Económico, Portugal Têxtil, Jornal T, Exame Informática and Tek Sapo.
The articles make known the main objectives and the most recent advances of the Project, which is in the last phase of development/prototyping. HelpInTex aims to develop a new line of multifunctional and intelligent mats capable of detecting and communicating/alert to the presence and movement of strangers inside the house (or in a given room), as well as possible falls.
These advanced features will be possible due to a remote sensing system, fully integrated into the textile structure, and a monitoring system for capturing and process the data/information, to which an App will be associated enabling the feedback to the user. The innovative technology also incorporates fibres with non-slip properties, ensuring greater safety for users.
HelpInTex aims to revolutionise the textile sector, meeting the current needs and trends of the home textiles market. It also aims to promote security at home, contributing to increased protection of private property. On the other hand, it is also useful in the health area, allowing, for example, a caregiver to be alerted if their family member or patient falls or is absent.
The HelpInTex Project is co-financed by North Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020), under the Portugal 2020 Partnership Agreement, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
