Here comes the protective clothing for the firefighter of the future!
The DIF-JACKET Project aims to develop improved protection equipment, especially suitable for critical scenarios such as firefighting, allowing the safety improvement and physical integrity of the firefighter.
The project arises from the need for an integrated solution that overcomes the demanding protection clothing’s limitations for firefighting.
The innovative multilayer jacket combines several materials in a single structure and uses numerical models to optimize the design.
The PPE results from the experience and technical skills of three reference research centres, CEFT - Transport Phenomena Research Center, CeNTI, and CITEVE.
CEFT is responsible for creating the numerical model and simulating the prototype in realistic scenarios; CeNTI is focused on the study, development, and characterization of the multilayer structure, and CITEVE is responsible for the construction of textiles and clothing testing.
DIG-JACKET is a national project financed by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (PCIF/SSO/0106/2018).
