Wear2Heal: textiles that accelerate muscle recovery
It is a differentiating technological solution that promises to revolutionize the health of athletes. It's called Wear2Heal, and it aims to develop innovative textiles that guarantee the optimization of the muscle recovery process and injury prevention after sports. It is signed by CeNTI, CITEVE - Textile and Clothing Technological Centre, Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto and the companies Tintex Textiles and HATA.
Different lines of research are being explored to obtain advanced textile structures, such as systems for localized heating and electrostimulation and compression systems for localized massage. The solution uses emerging technologies associated with materials and processes, namely integrating and printing electronic devices.
The aim is to create intelligent systems with action in the textile structure, of massage and compression (by introducing materials with shape memory) and electrostimulation and heating (through conductive wires/fibres and printed electronics). An integrated solution is also being developed with the different levels of action previously mentioned.
WEAR2HEAL Project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program (COMPETE 2020) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
