LedinTex
Industrialization and validation of textiles with integrated lighting systems (LEDs)

With a total investment of more than 500 thousand euros, LEDinTEX demonstrator project aims at the industrialization and validation of textiles with integrated lighting systems [LEDs]. It is intended to demonstrate in real situation the replicability capacity, technical and economic feasibility, versatility on product design of the new solutions and respond effectively to the demands of national/international market.
This project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalisation from European Regional Development Fund [ERDF].
The project, to be finalized in the end of February 2018, is promoted by Têxteis Penedo, S.A., CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials and CITEVE – Technological Centre for the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Industries.
Main goals
1. Demonstrate in real situations the capacity for replicability, technical and economic viability, product design versatility of new solutions and respond effectively to national / international market demands.

Project duration: September 2016 to March 2018
Total eligible cost: 500 000.00 €
Intervention region: Portugal
Results
The LEDinTEX project consisted of the adaptation of technologies and implementation of a pilot line in industrial environment for the production of textile solutions with integration of lighting systems [LEDs]. It allowed the creation of an efficient pilot line, reducing manual labor time, production time, reflected in unit cost, adding reproducibility and ability to produce large scale.
