Department: Smart Materials
Job status: Full-time
Description:
CeNTI is strengthening its Smart Materials Department.
We are looking for a motivated professional to join R&D activities in the field of functional materials, sensors and smart devices, with particular emphasis on the characterisation, monitoring and performance assessment of materials, structures and devices.
The selected candidate will participate in the development and characterisation of functional materials and devices, as well as in the definition and implementation of experimental methodologies for electrical and functional characterisation. Activities will include the assessment of electrical and functional properties, acquisition and analysis of experimental data, characterisation of sensor and device responses, and evaluation of their performance, stability, repeatability, durability and reliability under different operating conditions.
The candidate will also contribute to establishing relationships between material properties, manufacturing processes, device architecture and functional performance, supporting the optimisation and validation of materials, sensors and devices for different industrial applications.
The work will be carried out within the scope of national and European R&D projects, in close collaboration with industrial and scientific partners.
Specific requirements:
- MSc or PhD degree in Physics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the development and characterisation of advanced and functional materials.
- Experience in the characterisation of sensors, structures and functional devices.
- Experience in electrical characterisation techniques for materials and devices, including measurements of resistance, conductivity, current/voltage, capacitance, impedance or other relevant properties.
- Experience in the definition and implementation of experimental characterisation and monitoring methodologies and protocols.
- Experience in the acquisition, processing, analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
- Experience in assessing parameters such as sensitivity, stability, repeatability, reproducibility, durability and reliability of materials and devices.
- Experience in correlating material properties and manufacturing processes with the functional performance of devices.
- Knowledge of structural, microstructural, mechanical, thermal and/or physicochemical characterisation techniques will be valued.
- Experience in ageing methodologies and performance assessment under relevant operating conditions will be valued.
- Experience in national or international R&D projects and collaboration with industry will be valued.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Availability for occasional travel.
Specific skills:
- Critical thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactivity, autonomy and results orientation.
- Motivation to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational and management skills, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Strong sense of responsibility, technical rigour and commitment to the quality and reliability of results.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with industrial and scientific partners.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to different R&D challenges.
What we offer:
- Full-time contract and salary commensurate with the position and experience.
- Integration into a multidisciplinary R&D team within a collaborative and dynamic working environment.
- Opportunity to develop new skills through participation in R&D projects and challenges with industrial application and exposure to advanced technologies.
- Opportunity to collaborate on national and international R&D projects, working closely with scientific and industrial partners and contributing to the application and transfer of technology.
