HiPerTwinS

High Performance Twin Shoes

The HiPerTwinS project aims to develop innovative footwear with improved comfort features and added functionalities for sports activities such as hiking, fishing, or snow sports, in rough terrain / lower grip like rocks, ice, etc.

The goal is to develop technical footwear with biodegradable and natural leather, antifungal, anti-bacterial, anti-odour, sustainable, comfortable, safe and with an innovative hybrid and reversible sole system in terms of adherence to different types of soil / surfaces.

HiPerTwinS

Main Goals/Activities

  • Development of biodegradable natural leather for:

    • lining (inside of shoe), with antibacterial, antifungal and anti-odour properties, providing higher comfortconsidering the properties of breathability and friction resistance;

    • upper (front outer part of shoe), waterproof, with resistance properties to ageing in adverse conditions (cold and saline environments).
  • Development of a hybrid sole with improved design, grip and durability, involving an innovative configuration change mechanism when facing changes in the soil / floor typology of soil, without the need of removing the sole or using add-ons.

Results

  • Natural leather upper with improved biodegradability properties and greater durability and repellency in humid and saline environments – improving the level of blistering and staining after 16 hours of contact;

  • Natural leather lining with improved biodegradability properties and increased functional properties – antifungal, antibacterial and anti-odour;

  • Sustainable, hybrid and rotating sole with improved design adaptable to different typology of soil (slippery, cold and rocky).
