ALLYMED

Smart IoT-enhanced Medication Optimisation System

The AllyMED project aims to develop an intelligent and integrated system for home medication management, focused on the real-time identification and resolution of Medication-Related Problems (MRPs).

By combining artificial intelligence, printed sensing technologies, computer vision, and automated modular storage, the system enables remote health monitoring, automatic medication selection and dispensing, and direct communication with healthcare professionals. This smart ecosystem enhances therapeutic adherence, patient safety and environmental sustainability by integrating eco-pharmaco-stewardship practices that minimise waste and the ecological footprint of pharmaceuticals.

AllyMED represents a significant step forward in digital and personalised healthcare, fostering a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable treatment model for an ageing population.

ALLYMED

Main Goals/Activities

  • Develop advanced clinical algorithms for identifying MRPs, integrated into a home-based medication management system with Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM).
  • Develop computer vision algorithms for user recognition and automatic verification of medication intake.
  • Design an adjustable storage system that enables flexibility in the number and size of individual medicine compartments.
  • Develop sensors for continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity to ensure the integrity of stored medicines.
  • Develop a device capable of automatically selecting stored medicines, regardless of size or geometry, supporting 1 to 4 users and incorporating an additional safety layer based on optical and capacitive sensors, ensuring dispensing confirmation and real-time discrepancy detection, with a failure rate below 1%.
  • Create a digital platform for remote monitoring and communication between patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Integrate eco-pharmaco-stewardship practices to promote waste reduction and the responsible use of medicines.
