CeNTI once again recognised as a ‘Key Innovator’ by the Innovation Radar

CeNTI has once again been identified as 'Key Innovator' by the European Commission's Innovation Radar. The distinction was awarded for developments, under the BIOMAT Project, on multifunctional bio-based silica particles for different applications.

Led by CeNTI and concluded in 2024, BIOMAT aimed to research and develop advanced polyurethane foams and composites derived from bio-based materials and nanotechnology, targeting the construction, automotive, furniture, and bedding sectors.

Within this framework, the Centre developed sustainable alternatives to conventional silica-based additives, which, in addition to providing enhanced functionalities (such as flame retardancy, repellency, and antimicrobial properties), also contribute to reducing dependence on petroleum-derived products.

This isn't the first time CeNTI has received this distinction. To date, ten innovations have earned the Centre recognition as a 'Key Innovator', reinforcing its position as a European reference in applied research and technological development.

The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative aimed at identifying high-potential innovations emerging from EU-funded research Projects.

The BIOMAT Project was funded by the European Union under Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Programme.
